Objectives
Apply clinical decision-making process related to the pathophysiology of hematology, renal, liver, heart, lung, immune, endocrine, metabolic, lymphatic and venous disorders. Integrate the indications of mobilizing patients in high acuity patients including pre and post-operative transplant patients. Relate the various oxygen therapies including mechanical ventilation and patient mobilization on the different oxygen systems. Articulate safe mobilization principles including lines, tubes, ventilators, oxygen and other adjuncts necessary for patient monitoring and treatment. Implement psychomotor skills involved in mobilizing high acuity patients through case analysis. Utilize new evidence-based articles on best patient management of medically complex patients.

Description
Treating the high acuity and critically ill patient population can be overwhelming and challenging. Through this course, participants will gain knowledge required for effective clinical decision making for best patient outcomes working in an interdisciplinary team. This course will explore new evidence-based articles on best patient management of medically complex patients. Participants will have the opportunity to practice interpreting, applying and presenting recent research on topics learned during this course. Discussion of various case study application of the complex patient population will further bridge the gap between content knowledge and clinical application.
