Objectives
This course will help the student become a more educated consumer of research. It will help improve the participant's knowledge in distinguishing credible information from propaganda, and elucidate some of the intimidating terms which often accompany informative writing.
At the end of this course the participant will be able to:
Recognize professional Information Literacy
Distinguish between Qualitative and Qualitative research
Differentiate Objective from Subjective data
Define and calculate the measures of central tendency
List key components of the Scientific Method
Criteria for Completion:A score of 70% or more is considered passing. Scores of less than 70% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved.

Description
This course will help the student become a more educated consumer of research. It will help improve the participant's knowledge in distinguishing credible information from propaganda, and elucidate some of the intimidating terms which often accompany informative writing. The course includes a clear, user-friendly clarification of the daunting terms used in statistics, as well as concise definitions of the key components of a scientific study. Concluding with a succinct didactic on the importance of Critical Thinking, the course will greatly enhance the student's ability to analyze and interpret various forms of research.

Hour 1
Define Peer Review
Identify popular literature and propaganda
Define forms of research
Provide examples of formats
Hour 2
Illustrate examples of opinion surveys
Critique empirical data
Define quantities of mean, median and mode
