Objectives
Course Goals:This course is intended to instruct the professional on exercises for prevention and recovery from back pain. Professional Objectives:At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to: Recognize major terms of biomechanics Identify several factors known to substantially increase risk of back injury Identify the agonist, antagonist and synergists involved in common back movements. Cite common back injuries and conditions Recognize impact and effects on athletic and daily activities. Identify popular assessment protocols used by therapists and trainers Cite exercises and techniques in the contemporary approach to promoting back health. Criteria for Completion:A score of 70% or more is considered passing. Scores of less than 70% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved.

Description
This course identifies some of the major causes of back pain, which affects over 80% of American adults at some time. Attendees will enhance their understanding of crucial structures related to the spine and gain a deeper knowledge of conditions which contribute to back issues, and some of the major pathologies which impede spinal health. The course arms the trainer/therapist with a comprehensive approach to assisting clients which will include research and experience based techniques shown to be effective at restoring and preserving optimum function of the back. This Seminar-on-Demand is 4 contact hours in length (check your state's approval status in the state specific course catalog for your profession).
