Objectives
Delineate the concepts of Contemporary NDT through discussion of at least three current research topics. Apply the ICF Model in detailed analysis of children with neurological impairments to identify the essential elements for intervention. Apply varying levels of input and grade appropriately, specific to an individual, using the case study presented. Distinguish a component of postural control and how it relates to function using a systems approach. Determine the best way to elicit postural muscle activity for function for a given individual using the provided case study or video. Apply three treatment strategies and defend their use from a neurophysiological basis. Choose a sequenced treatment progression of at least 4 treatment strategies that build upon and facilitate function and participation outcomes.

Target Audience
PTs, PTAs, OTs, OTAs, SLP

Description
Therapists will leave this course with the ability to immediately incorporate the concepts and strategies presented. Therapists will determine what impairments are interfering with the child’s function and participation utilizing the ICF model. Emphasis for treatment will be on providing the precise amount of input to foster appropriate posture and movement synergies incorporating into the chosen functional outcome. A combination of lecture, videos, group discussions, and movement experience will ensure integration of the information for real-world intervention.
