This 3 hour course is a guide to quick, effective, inexpensive and evidence based tests and interventions based on specific impairment categories that can be used in all Physical Therapy settings from home health to skilled nursing. Learn new tests to can more accurately measure specific deficits, improve patient motivation and track progress. Measurable assessment tests & tools Deb will review specific evidence based, measurable assessment tests & tools to improve the clinician’s skills, documentation and functional outcome measurements. The Functional Test Score handout is a 4 page summary broken down into impairment categories: Aerobic Capacity/Endurance Activity Tolerance Balance and Balance Confidence Gait and Locomotion Mobility ADL IADL Strength & Power Arousal, Attention, and Cognition. There is also an oculomotor section with tests for central and peripheral deficits and monofilament testing instructions for loss of protective sensation for feet. Each category has specific tests and measures, provides a quick reference for age and gender norms, and evidenced based normative data that you will be able to immediately put into practice. She also shares specific test that can be used to identify fall risk, hospital risk and mortality risk. Intervention exercises: From frail to functional This section discusses treatment strategies based on the impairment categories you have identified with your test and measures and discusses treatment progression to meet functional patient centered goals.
