Objectives

Describe and master four standardized measures of function for participants with stroke, including a modified sit to stand test protocol, sitting balance, gait speed and standing ability measurement. Describe evidence-based exercise protocols for sitting balance in participants with stroke. Demonstrate evidence-based exercise protocols for sit to stand training for participants with stroke. Describe multiple protocols to address balance and gait impairments for participants following stroke. Apply measures and evidence-based interventions to relevant case studies.

Description

This 3 hour presentation on examination and interventions for people with Stroke is filled with clinically relevant information for immediate use in all therapeutic settings. Participants will become familiar with appropriate and feasible functional measures for this population. A wealth of evidence-based exercise protocols that apply to a wide range of function in patients with stroke will be presented. Relevant case studies will be discussed for immediate integration of the material into clinical practice.
