Objectives

Describe both the central and lateral symptoms of lumbar spinal stenosis and be able to identify key characteristics of each type. Utilize appropriate manual therapy techniques to enhance treatment. Provide an explanation of evidence-based evaluation, both through functional tools and clinical examination. Identify key impairment deficits from your evaluation, and design a treatment program (including home instruction) based on research concepts. Design a core stabilization program for both low and high level patients with lumbar spinal stenosis.

We review clinical research on lumbar spinal stenosis and demonstrate how to apply the research to an actual patient case study. We will model a structured approach for evaluation and treatment of this condition. As a participant in this course you will submit responses to case study questions about goals and treatment options and review poor, better and excellent responses with the instructors. The course ends with a question and answer session with the instructors.
