Description
With a focus on the Breath in Optimal Body Alignment, this highly experiential webinar will be centered on how we can breathe in many ways for better bone and overall health. It will begin with a review and anatomy of the breath and how it happens with or without conscious awareness and will progress through many techniques for breathing from simple to more complex. Highlights will include breathing for: Site-specific lung capacity, Overall vital capacity, Flexibility of the rib cage, The importance of nasal vs mouth breathing continuing into Yogic breathing for both relaxation and increased energy, “Proning”, a new term for lying prone and focusing on the breath that has come into favor in the treatment of patients with Covid-19, Breathing for Covid-19 patients and survivors as available in the research literature. An introduction to the concept that your bones also breathe and the importance of breathing during exercise will be presented. Learning and practicing safe, therapeutic, and functional breathing movement and exercises that you can take into your professional and personal lives the very next day is the central “core” for this webinar. To ensure good breathing technique, Sara will demonstrate several breathing exercises via embedded videos. Beginning with Noticing the Breath to Breathing in Athletics and ancient Yogic Breaths, can take you and your clients further into functional movement than they or you might have thought possible. Focusing on optimal body alignment will provide more room for the internal organs (especially important for the lungs and heart). The innovative, comprehensive, evidence-based, 12-point approach of The Meeks Method® has been clinically-shown to be safe and effective for many musculoskeletal and spinal conditions. Participants will be able to question Sara Meeks during the presentation and, in addition, will have available complimentary handouts of The Re-Alignment Routine and a full-color PDF copy of the PowerPoint presentation.
