Description
Disorders of the acromioclavicular joint are common, often subtle, and routinely overlooked condition that can be masqueraded by other injuries such as a rotator cuff tear. At the other end of the spectrum, acute injuries requiring surgical management can be incredibly challenging for even the most experienced clinician. This comprehensive course presents an evidence-based approach to the rehabilitation of common surgical and non-surgical disorders of the acromioclavicular joint. Following a review of functional anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder complex, the clinical presentation of various acromioclavicular joints is highlighted. This course presents the latest surgical techniques and most updated rehabilitation protocols / rehabilitation guidelines used for both surgical and non-surgical conditions. Important individual factors that may necessitate modifications of protocols will be addressed and common pitfalls encountered during the rehabilitation process will be covered. Specific exercises and manual techniques are presented in video format with an emphasis on proper execution. The criteria for phase-based progression during the rehabilitation process is discussed, as well as return to sport clearing tests. Throughout the course, case examples will be highlighted to reinforce learned concepts.
