Objectives

Compare and contrast 3 common gait deviations resulting from lower extremity tonicity and appropriate treatments for each. 8. Identify at least 2 common problems with patients with pusher syndrome and how to best adjust the environment for treatment

Description
This course will focus on providing therapists with various treatment ideas to improve function for patients with CVA, TBI, and other neurological deficits. The latest research and evidence will be highlighted emphasizing the importance of neuroplasticity and motor learning, including the specifics of how to integrate the research into the realities of practice. The presentation includes the use of updated digital video to practice movement analysis and demonstrate the impact of different interventions. Using attendees’ case examples, common impairments causing functional limitations will be identified and various treatment options will be discussed considering the level of the patient and clinic setting. In addition, options for improving the function of patients with Pusher Syndrome will be reviewed. Upon completion of this course, therapists will have learned an evidence-based approach for choosing treatment strategies while improving their clinical reasoning skills working with this patient population.
