The IN and MO boards of physical therapy recognize other state board's approvals. Approved sponsor by the State of IL Dept. of Financial and Professional Regulation for Physical Therapy. Approved provider by the NY State Board of Physical Therapy for 16.2 contact hours Approved provider of continuing education by the American Occupational Therapy #3043, for 13.5 contact hours - Intermediate Level Occupational Therapy Process: assessment, intervention. The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products or clinical procedures by AOTA. This course is offered for up to 1.35 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate level, Professional area). 12 hours of this course qualify towards the discipline-specific hours for the 20-hour requirement for NDTA re-certification. They do NOT qualify towards the 8-hour NDTA Instructor requirement for re-certification.

Description
This 2-day course will provide a comprehensive and evidence-based framework for maximizing efficiency of assessment and interventions for individuals with mild through moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI). Participants will gain an understanding of the complex operation of the brain and how TBI disrupts motor, sensory and behavioral function. This course will address both the functional and structural deficits, review dynamic and evidence-based interventions to optimize learning and neuroplasticity as well as address management of challenging behaviors seen following mild through moderate TBI. Case examples will used to apply learned knowledge and provide the clinician with tools to return to practice with an improved clinical toolbox.
