Objectives

Upon completion of this course the participant will be able to:
1. Summarize how ageism can influence both patients and physicians.
2. List tips to enhance communication with a patient who has lost some hearing.
3. Explain considerations when communicating diagnoses and treatment plans for patients with chronic conditions.
4. Describe how cultural differences have an impact on how patients view doctors and medicine.
5. Become familiar with communication techniques when working with a confused or cognitively impaired patient.
