Description
During this one day online course, delivered by physiotherapist and APPI Master Trainer Melanie Bryant, you will be guided through the development of a reasoned Pilates program for anyone pre or post spinal surgery.
The course begins by reviewing the 3 most prominent spinal surgeries; laminectomy, discectomy and fusion and provides and overview of why one type of surgery would be chosen over another and the implications each surgery type has to the rehabilitation options preferred.
The practical component will take you through the relevant exercises from day 1 through to 6 weeks post surgery where most restrictions are removed. We will then review the most relevant objectives of the rehabilitation program and the exercise used to achieve these.
This truly is a step by step guide to using Pilates pre and post spinal surgery.
This course includes a downloadable manual and takes approx 6-8 hours to complete.

Why is this course relevant?
Back pain is still the most prevalent illness in the world today. Those that progress to the need for surgery are a complex cohort of back pain and as such need a specific program to ensure it is safe and effective for the specific surgical considerations.
