Motivations, Inc.

Format(s):   Live Webinar
Discipline(s):   Physical Therapy
Contact Hours:   3
Registration Fee:   $60

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to
1) Accurately determine areas of the cortex given the functional anatomy
2) Precisely identify one impairment typically seen during gait based on a given cortical lesion post-stroke
3) Independently devise and adapt therapeutic interventions related to muscle weakness, sensory loss, and or cognitive impairment impacting gait
4) Evaluate and correctly match gait impairments to cortical lesion location seen post-stroke given a case study

Description
The focus is on increased understanding and application of therapeutic interventions to improve abnormal neurologic gait patterns observed from lesions in the cortex. This course will review typical stroke lesions of the cortex and describe resulting impairments that may be observed during gait. Using a systems approach, physical therapy practitioners will be instructed how to formulate interventions within their scope of practice and establish and or follow a plan of care to improve gait impairments. The presentation will utilize a case-based approach to demonstrate and summarize application of material. (intermediate level)
