2. Recognize and demonstrate 150 basic ASL signs, the manual alphabet, and numbers 1-20
3. List the 5 parameters of signs
4. Explore specific ways of using signs at home, in therapy sessions, in a classroom and in medical settings
5. Demonstrate how to add signs when reading a book aloud

Description
This course is for anyone who wants to learn ASL signs, letters and numbers as well as how, when and why to sign with young children with general speech and language delays and disorders, developmental delays, childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, and hearing loss. The class is presented in a fun, interactive format and also incorporates music into some learning activities to make it fun and easy to learn and remember the signs. Participants will be prepared to start using signs the next day – at home, in therapy sessions, in the classroom, clinic or hospital setting.
This course provides a base of 150 ASL signs, the manual alphabet, numbers 1-20, knowledge of how to produce signs, how to introduce signs to young children to aid in general communication, speech and language development, eye-contact and attention as well as how signs can effectively supplement behavior management programs, reduce tantrums and frustration and facilitate response to meltdowns. Learn how signing also encourages overall language, literacy and spelling skills in all children.
