Course Goals: This course is intended to instruct the professional through a study on dealing with pain from FMS and MPS. Professional Objectives: At the conclusion of this course the participant will be able to Identify signs and symptoms of fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome Define trigger points and give examples of types of trigger points Recognize evidence-based research describing effective interventions for promoting functional outcomes for people with fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome Criteria for Completion: A score of 70% or more is considered passing. Scores of less than 70% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved.

This course clearly describes the differential diagnosis of two main categories of chronic pain conditions: fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS)and myofascial pain syndrome (MPS). Research evidence describes the clinical tests contributing to appropriate diagnosis of FMS or MPS.
