Course Goals:This course is intended to instruct the professional on evaluation and treatment of non-surgical and surgical SLAP disorder. Professional Objectives:At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to: Cite three evidence- based special tests for the assessment of SLAP lesions Cite two evidence based prognostic factors for successful outcome in conservatively treated labral disorders. Identify three evidence based co-existing pathologies that accompany labral disorders in the overhead athlete Recognize two major differences between the rehabilitation protocols for Type I/III and type II/IV post-surgical labral repairs current rehabilitation protocols following different types of SLAP repairs Identify three best practice interventions of rehabilitation in the treatment of conservatively managed labral disorders Criteria for Completion:A score of 70% or more is considered passing. Scores of less than 70% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved.

This course succinctly summarizes current debate and conflicting evidence in the diagnosis and treatment of SLAP lesions. Levels and strengths of evidence are presented in order to maximize an accurate diagnosis and provide optimal interventions. Videos of clinician and patient-directed soft tissue mobilizations, stretches and therapeutic exercise are presented in order to reinforce learning concepts. Healthcare professionals have access to the most recent post-surgical protocols used by the worlds leading orthopedic surgeons in the country. In addition, this course provides interval and transition to sport protocols for overhead athletes, including baseball pitchers and position players, swimmers, quarterbacks, golfers, tennis players, softball pitchers and tennis players. The debate on SLAP repair vs. Biceps tenodesis will be explored as will recent advancements in post-surgical management of complicated cases.
