Objectives
Course Goals: This course is intended to instruct the professional on treatment of patients suffering from Lewy Body Dementia.Professional Objectives:At the conclusion of this course the participant will be able to: Recognize differences and similarities between Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) and Parkinson;s Disease (PD) and LBD and Alzheimer;s Disease (AD). Cite the need for a correct early diagnosis for safe and effective management. Identify several drugs that are safe with PD and AD but very dangerous for those with LBD. Cite the value of exercise and rehab programs with Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists. Identify potential roadblocks to successful therapy programs. Recognize caregiver needs and how to offer quality of life suggestions. Criteria for Completion:A score of 70% or more is considered passing. Scores of less than 70% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved.

Lewy Body Dementia is the second most common dementia. Yet it is the most frequently misdiagnosed and highly under-diagnosed. The symptoms can look like Parkinson's Disease or Alzheimer's, but several unique symptoms make it a disease very responsive to all therapies. This course allows the clinician to recognize the differences and similarities to Lewy Body Dementia and to apply safe and effective management of the disease.
