Description
LIVE WEBINAR APPROVED IN Illinois, Louisiana, Arkansas, Iowa and Utah. Check your state board for reciprocity
The course begins with a review of anatomy with several insights of recent research regarding structure of the the ankle and foot. The course will quickly move to discussion of the normal biomechanics of the major structures of the foot and ankle from the talocrural joint to the plantar plates of the toes in a straightforward yet informative manner. Palpation lab will be included to help locate these important structures of the foot and aid in understanding the relation to surrounding structures and their movement and function. Next the course will discuss abnormal foot mechanics of pes cavovarus and pes planovalgus. An in depth discussion of the causes of these common aberrant foot postures as well as progression and the frequent foot conditions that we as therapists and assistants see that are associated with these postures. Lab in this section will help the clinician identify the component postures of joints that lead to varus and planus feet via standard tools. Lab will include manual treatments to help relieve the stresses of aberrant foot postures as well as taping to support these postures. The course will conclude with time spent on customizing pre-fabricated orthotics.
