Description
In our rapidly growing aging population, geriatric patients frequently are the most complicated cases that we encounter. Multiple diagnoses and a long list of medications, combined with limited treatment time, makes for a daunting challenge. This course is designed for the therapist that wants to go in depth for every case to deliver the best possible treatment, based on the latest evidence.
This seminar goes one step further than traditional lecture format courses to explore comprehensive treatment planning. Participants will gain an in depth understanding of the most appropriate functional measures and evidenced based treatment options for a broad gamut of geriatric patients, including neurologic, orthopedic and patients with concurrent medical diagnoses. A special emphasis will be made on exploring and using research findings to design effective treatments. In a unique format, participants will have extended working time to apply evidence based tools to complex case studies that represent the challenging cases we see every day. Discussion and collaborative review of these cases will give participants a new paradigm in which to approach patients for excellent care. The handout, which includes medical references, diagnosis-based norms, and functional measures, is specially organized to serve as a working reference for the clinic.
