Description

Taking a Different Direction toward Bipolar Therapy
Dr. Jay Carter is uniquely qualified to teach this course. A Diplomate Candidate in Psychopharmacology (Prescribing Psychologists Register), he has conducted over 6,000 psychological and psychiatric evaluations. Dr. Carter draws his insight on bipolar disorder from both professional and personal experience. Not only has he spent years facilitating recovery for people with bipolar disorder at a county prison and the Caron Foundation (one of the top three drug and alcohol rehabs in the country), he has also felt the impact of the disorder at home: a number of his family members have had bipolar disorder, including his mother.

Dr. Carter insists on more than an intellectual understanding of the bipolar disorder. To treat this disorder in a state-of-the art way, one must have a FEEL for it. He delivers this seminar with an appropriate sense of humor, using stories and analogies to give you a good presentation of the disorder. When describing his teaching method, Dr. Carter says, "I try not to use technical terms so people don't get sleepy or have a headache by the end of the day. It is explained in terms that you would use to explain it to a client. Once you see the bigger picture, it helps the details fall into place and have more meaning." Dr. Carter strives to keep the evidence-based information so fresh that prior attendees report the updates and review, alone, are worth taking the seminar again. Attend this interesting, fun seminar, and walk away with both a better understanding of the bipolar disorder and a wealth of new knowledge to apply to other disorders.
