Description
The interdisciplinary care and treatment of persons with TBI is one of the most challenging endeavors in the fields of medical and vocational rehabilitation. The unique pathophysiology of traumatic injury can result in a complex interaction between cognitive, behavioral, and physical sequelae. These deficits impact training and generalization and may limit the effectiveness of traditional rehabilitation interventions if not systematically addressed. Interventions require a truly interdisciplinary approach to inpatient, outpatient, and community re-entry services. This course is designed to provide rehab professionals with the core competencies to address some of the unique cognitive and behavioral challenges of TBI. Emphasis is placed on structuring all rehab interventions, regardless of discipline, to incorporate sound cognitive and behavioral management strategies in order to increase client awareness and to increase generalization of all interventions.
