Attention Wyoming PTs and PTAs! According to the Wyoming Board of Physical Therapy, as of October 1, 2009, physical therapists and physical therapy assistants are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of PT and PTA continuing education every two years based on the date of the practitioner's license. Below is an overview of the requirements for the state of Wyoming. Get a little refresher on the specifics, and don't forget to continuously check the Wyoming PT Board website for changes in requirements. Happy home studying!
Wyoming PT/PTA CE Specifics:

All physical therapy CE must meet the State of Wyoming's PT/PTA specifications. This can include live seminars, web-based seminars, or online resources. Keep in mind, one (1) contact hour of PT or PTA continuing education is equal to 60 minutes of instruction.

Two Categories of PT/PTA CEUs:

The Wyoming PT Board specifies that there are two categories of physical therapist (and assistant) CEUs. The first category is "clinical," which is defined as any continuing education courses that directly pertain to the practice of physical therapy. The second category is (can you guess it?) "non-clinical," which relates to the non-medical aspects of a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant's job. At least fifteen (15) hours of the total CE requirement must come from the first category, specifically, these CEUs must directly relate to the practice of physical therapy. If it meets the practitioner's preference, all PT CE courses may come from the clinical category. But no more than five (5) contact hours may come from the second category.

Selecting continuing education providers can be tricky with the multitude of online options. Look for clearly stated state approval seals on their websites, and insure that their course structure and content meet Wyoming State regulations prior to ordering your physical therapy CEUs.
