Continuing Education Spotlight
Education Resources, Inc.:
Following on the tails of a successful 2009 conference, Therapies in the School 2010,
proved to once again inspire therapists who work in the school setting. Nearly 300
therapists, (more than half returning year after year), had an opportunity to learn practical
applications of new federal regulations along with many new strategies to manage their
caseload and provide evidence based interventions within the framework of RTI
(Response to Intervention). New this year, therapists were able to start their day
invigorated by an optional yoga session.
Additionally, participants were excited by the opportunity to hear a parent’s perspective
from our luncheon speaker, Shonda Schilling. Shonda is the wife of renowned Red Sox
pitcher, Curt Shilling, whose pitching was instrumental in bringing the World Series
Trophy back to Boston after 84 years. Shonda shared her journey of both the joy and
heartache of living with a child with Aspergers Syndrome. The audience was moved by
Shonda’s compelling story and by her thoughts on how therapists can make a difference
in the lives of those living with Aspergers.
We are already working on the content for next years conference, and will continue to
offer relevant, dynamic topics, to bring the therapist the tools needed to thrive in this
ever changing environment.
“I’m so glad I came to this conference – you always do a great job of presenting very
critical information by highly qualified professionals. The RTI info was so pertinent,
inspiring, and timing so critical to classrooms today where we are presenting intensive
rapid instruction with kids whose systems are just not ready. I will go back to work
inspired with new energy and enthusiasm around how to help out in our schools.”
