Description
Practitioners in a variety of settings are presented with challenges when patients require specialized seating and recommendations for mobility devices. This course is designed to link practice expertise of functional impairments with current knowledge of seating and mobility options, funding requirements and appropriate collaboration with suppliers. Instruction includes discussion of a thorough mat evaluation and physical assessment. Fundamentals of seating and mobility and pressure redistribution principles will be addressed. In addition, instruction will include assessment of musculoskeletal deformities, abnormal tone and skin integrity in relationship to seating. Documentation requirements and funding guidelines will be given. Case study with clinical applications is incorporated into this course format.
