Objectives

Course Goals: This course is intended to instruct the professional on on sex and sexuality in the lives of seniors. Professional Objectives: Identify differences in senior adults Recognize health data regarding senior adults Understand concept of wellness perception Identify meaning of sex and sexuality Criteria for Completion: A score of 70% or more is considered passing. Scores of less than 70% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved.

Description

The four-hour course on Seniors and Intimacy discusses sex and sexuality in the lives of seniors. Information about the senior population is discussed as is the need to understand the role of sex and sexuality in their lives. Factors explored include changing relationships, the interpretation of sexual expression, community response, and insight about how seniors perceive themselves as sexual beings. The impact of health, medication and the concept of consent are discussed in an effort to identify respectful ways to provide older people with a dignified, inclusive life that is sensitive to sexual health and identity.
