Objectives
Upon successful completion, participants will:
Describe developmental anatomical and physiological components of the peripheral and central vestibular system
Explain the physiology of normal and abnormal nystagmus.
Examine and interpret results of tests for vestibular deficit & related impairments.
Identify impairments and rehabilitation potential for children based on the results of diagnostic testing
Identify pathologies known to affect vestibular function in children
Identify & describe the impairments related to vestibular dysfunction, particularly as related to development
Identify components of, & demonstrate ability to complete physical therapy evaluation of the child with vestibular related impairment
Identify and demonstrate ability to complete intervention for VOR and Vsp impairments
Identify the mechanisms underlying recovery

CEUs, 48 contact hours, participants must complete all pre-readin2 assignments, fully attend each day of the course and successfully complete each laboratory or practicum (80%)
Participants that also pass the final written examination with a score of 75% or better will also receive a Certificate of Achievement worth .3 CEUs/3 contact hours
This 5 day course provides an in -depth review of the science
and evidence for vestibular rehabilitation, evaluation and
intervention strategies for pediatric clients. The course
includes detailed didactic review of the vestibular system, its
function, and the effect of damage to this system on
development. Participants will receive hands-on training in
evaluation, clinical decision making, and intervention
strategies for vestibular function and related impairments for
children. (8-10:1 ratio for labs).
To optimize time & learning, pre-requisite readings are
provided prior to course, handouts are provided onsite, and
the final exam will be completed on-line. Bring your laptop to
complete exam while on site.
