Objectives
OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1. Identify a possible etiology of injury for at least 5 anatomic structures of the knee joint.
2. For each of the anatomic structures of the knee (ligament, meniscus, muscle and tendon), identify the various healing processes, time frames, & precautions to consider.
3. For either squatting, jumping, or climbing, describe how joint loading and various forces influence the mechanics of the knee.
4. For any 2 potential injuries to the knee, integrate at least 3 rehabilitation techniques based on current evidence, to effectively rehabilitate the given structure.

Agenda
This is a 3-hour course equivalent to 0.3 CEUs offered as a live webinar. Instructors present this course content via an internet website displaying real time power points. Learners will receive a PDF of the course materials before the event. Instructors lecture through a phone conference call connection or your computer if you have audio capability on your computer. Questions may be asked during the webinar using the chat feature or the “raise hand” feature for live discussion.

Pre Study: 30 Minutes Plan to read the course materials, references and review the post test before the start time. Also please be prepared to share patient case study related question during the discussion time.
15 minutes: Introduction; Knee etiology
20 minutes: Anatomical consideration of the knee with visuals of the anatomical structures of the knee
20 minutes: Joint forces with functional movements of knee
15 minutes: Specific healing time frames in regards to knee structures
45 minutes: Evidence supported knee rehabilitation techniques
5 minutes: Questions
Post test: 30 Minutes: Research, identify, and submit your post test question answers on the online form. This is an open book test you can take multiple times if needed to obtain the 70% score

Description
Knee injuries, whether it be an ACL injury, meniscal injury, or degenerative arthritis, are common in the American population. This course takes a closer look at the detailed anatomy of the knee from an anatomist viewpoint and the biomechanical forces affecting the knee with certain activities. Review of the physiological healing process and its effect of knee injury recovery will be emphasized. Combined with recent best evidence supported research and physical therapy including non-surgical approaches, rehabilitation exercises and treatment options will be discussed. Considerations of proper techniques of exercise will be addressed. (Intermediate Level)
