At the conclustion of this course the participant will be able to:
Identify 3 common diagnoses seen in the elderly requiring seating intervention.
Describe clinical indicators a standard manual wheelchair, an ultra lightweight manual wheelchair and power mobility within the geriatric population.
Recognize 3 geriatric specific considerations in identifying appropriate seating intervention.
Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants and Athletic Trainers.
This video based course focuses on special considerations, clinical indicators, and common diagnosis of seating intervention in the elderly population. Clinicians will be instructed on general principles of seating and common diagnoses and comorbid conditions in the geriatric population. Michelle also identifies various postural abnormalities along with causes and effects due to seated positioning and explain when a restraint may be used as per OBRA Regulations.
