At the end of this course the professional will be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge of basic Therapeutic Yoga principles and how to integrate them with traditional medicine to integrate yoga therapy into your practice.
Understand the basic philosophy among health care professions for integrating yoga therapy into your practice models for musculo skeletal dysfunctions.
Identify and differentiate between 4 models of healing upon which yoga therapy is based.
Correlate the knowledge of four ancient holistic models of healing and conventional medicine to develop an understanding of the concept of Yoga Therapy.
Understand the basic science behind the four models of healing in yoga therapy.
Identify the steps involved in the assessment and structuring of an integrative session using the DSR method, a biopsychosocial model of rehabilitation.
Employ the components of the 8 step wellness plan for a yoga therapy program with emphasis on breathing, relaxation and poses.
Understand how to set up for your initial visit (intake questionnaire, initial interview, protocol for assessment and treatment planning)
Identify and implement the components for an integrative therapy session.
Demonstrate knowledge of the seven steps of Yoga Nidra and its application in relaxation training.

This course is designed to educate the physical and/or occupational therapist in the foundational guidelines for integration of yoga therapy into their practice. At the completion of the course, participants will gain knowledge of basic Therapeutic Yoga principles and how to integrate them with traditional medicine. Therapists will be shown how to differentiate between four models of healing upon which yoga therapy is based and learn to identify and implement the components for an integrative therapy session.
