Children are being abused at alarming rates. Staggering statistics point out that it is imperative for clinicians, educators and health care professionals to be equipped with a clear understanding of what child abuse is, how to identify it and intervene. This course will provide participants with knowledge, increased understanding and intervention techniques to apply to their clinical practice. This course will cover basic statistics, demographics and prevalence associated with child abuse as well as forms of abuse, distinguishing abuse from accident and investigating when child abuse is suspected. Jennifer will also discuss identifying offender and victim traits, characteristics and dynamics and how best to use current resources effectively for reporting child abuse.
