Objectives

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
• Describe basic vestibular system anatomy and physiology.
• Accurately perform a comprehensive subjective and objective assessment demonstrate the ability to interpret findings in order to formulate an appropriate treatment plan.
• Perform standard and modified treatments for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
• Understand signs and symptoms and select appropriate treatment options for patients with vestibular loss.

Description

This evidenced based course will describe the anatomy and physiology of the vestibular system and various disorders commonly seen in vestibular dysfunction. Treatment options for each disorder, as well as, expected outcomes will also be covered. The structure of this course will consist of lecture, video presentation, and one hour of reading. Video of assessing for vestibular disorders and interpreting findings will be included along with treatment options for each disorder. Case studies will be presented along with a question / answer series of most commonly asked questions. At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to perform a basic vestibular assessment and provide treatment as appropriate.
